Tim Wood - Director, Mobile Health Innovation - MOTECH Ghana
Tim specializes in applying information technology to address the problems of poverty and health in developing countries. After 12 years at Microsoft working on software development, Tim spent two years consulting with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation looking at the intersection of Information Technology and Global Health. He joined the Grameen Technology Center in 2002 and pioneered replication of the Grameen Village Phone program, launching sustainable initiatives in Uganda and Rwanda and co-authoring the Village Phone Replication Manual. He is currently leading Grameen's efforts to identify ways to improve the quantity and quality of healthcare in developing countries using mobile phones. Tim brings a broad range of technical and business expertise, and a valued perspective on technology initiatives for developing countries.
David Hutchful - Technical Program Manager, MOTECH Ghana
David is a user experience researcher with experience in software development and the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for socio-economic development. Prior to MOTECH, David spent a year developing a scalable model and software platform to support the production of open educational resources at higher education institutions. Following that, he spent 2 years with the Technology for Emerging Markets (TEM) Group at Microsoft Research in India. There, he conducted research and published on the design and use of technology in the areas of education and financial services. David received a B.A. in Computer Science and Philosophy (minor) from Calvin College and a Masters degree in Information with a specialization in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Michigan
Kwame Opare Akonor - Field officer Motech AS
I attended and completed Achimota secondary school in the year 2000.Graduated from the University of Ghana with bachelors of Art (information studies) in 2007. Prior to joining Grameen foundation in May 2011, I worked on a number of data gathering projects for Institute of statistical social and economic research (ISSER) and Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) as a field officer. I enjoy watching and playing football. My passion for making a mark in people’s lives motivates and keeps me going.
Aniela Wobil - Support center agent, MOTECH Ghana
Aniela joined Grameen Foundation as a Support Center Agent for out of Office in 2012.
Anie is a Product of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana with a degree in Bachelor of Arts coupled with an Advanced Executive Certificate in Customer Service, Retention Strategies and Selling.
Anie worked with First Capital Plus, a fast growing micro finance Group in 2011 as a Customer service Agent responsible for checking customers Account Balances for both foreign and local clients. Anie has also been a subject Teacher and an Assistant Academic Head from 2009-2010 in Andam Senior High and Technical School in the Central Region.
She is currently with Grameen Foundation and is responsible for receiving and escalating service calls offered to customers and Nurses to the Support Center Team and additionally Monitoring and Visiting Mobile Midwife Clients through enumeration of monthly surveys, a project geared towards enhancing Clients' satisfaction.
Anie is Affable, fun to be with and always wants to make people smile. Her hobbies are Cooking foreign recipes, Reading and going on sight seeing
Joseph Kofi Asuako - Community Mobilizer, Motech Ghana
Joseph joined Grameen Foundation in March 2011 with 10 years working experience in Community Mobilisation. Between 2001 and 2009 he worked with the Cooperative League of the United States of America (CLUSA), Education Development Center and Research Triangle Institute to implement a USAID funded GAIT (Government Accountability Improves Trust) project in the ten (10) Regions of Ghana. He has expertise in organizing, strengthening the management and capabilities of CSO/CBOs, NGOs, local Assembly members, traditional leaders and decentralized organizations to be effective partners in quality Health, Education and local governance. He played a key role in the formation of Civic Unions (federation of civil society groups) which are torch bearers in social services advocacy in the ten (10) Regions of Ghana. He is passionate about supporting processes that increases the capacity of community members to champion the course of their development.
Joseph holds B.A in Sociology/Economics from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana and an M.A in Adult Education from Wisconsin International University, Ghana.
Williams Kwarah - Field Coordinator, MoTeCH Ghana
Williams has rich experiences in medical microbiology, and also participated in a number of research works on malaria, cerebro-spinal meningitis and enteric fever. He has worked with the Navrongo Health Research Center on the Artesunate Recto Caps Clinical Trial from 2000 to 2003. He then went on to study for a BSc in Applied Biology (Medical Microbiology Option) at the University for Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana. Williams was working in the diagnostic laboratory at the War Memorial Hospital in the Upper East Region before joining Grameen Foundation. Williams was fascinated about the MOTECH concept and saw working with Grameen as an opportunity to follow a career pathway in health informatics. He joined the MOTECH Team in July 2010 as Technical Field Officer in the Upper East Region, and was promoted to Field Coordinator. Williams says "working for Grameen Foundation is a rare opportunity, giving me the chance to delve into emerging mHealth innovations which was previously foreign to me. MOTECH has also given me the chance to serve my people, especially those in rural communities who lack access to basic health information. I see MOTECH as a huge intervention with great potential to empower the poorest of the poor with useful cost-effective health information that will improve the health status of the people. I want to be part of this wonderful team providing such a great service to my people”. Williams is currently supporting in the implementation of MOTECH in other districts in Ghana.
Shuaib Ahmed Tetteh - Customer Care Specialist -MOTECH
Shuaib is responsible for implementing and maintaining a customer care system for the MoTeCH project. He has a Higher National Diploma in Accounting and currently reading (Distance learning) Bachelor Degree in Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Cape Coast. Prior to joining Grameen in August 2011 as Customer Care Specialist, he worked with Barclays Bank Ghana, Standard Chartered Bank and Accra Markets Limited where he served in various roles as, customer service Advisor, Sales Representative and Accounts Supervisor respectively. Shuaib is passionate about using mobile technology initiatives to enhance information acquisition and usage and see how it brings positive change among people, especially women in the rural communities. He enjoys, reading, browsing the internet, and is very passionate about meeting new people and watching wrestling.
Jibril Musah - Driver, MOTECH GHANA
Jibril attained his Middle School Leaving Certificate (MSLC) in 1982. He has 23 years of experience working as a driver for various organizations such as Engender Health, Quality Health Partners, John Hopkins University, DFID, UNESCO and WHO. His dedication to work earned him the opportunity to drive in Queen Elizabeth’s convoy during her visit in 1999. In his spare time Jibril enjoys watching football, listening music and watching movies
Rita Naadei Nikoi - Office Manager, MOTECH Ghana
Rita is from the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. She has been working since 1997 and brings to Grameen Foundation her many years of administrative experience. She worked as secretary with the Ghana School of Public Health and then with the Holy Trinity Medical Centre. She then moved on briefly from working in health institutions to the ports and harbours where she worked as an Administrative Officer and Secretary to the Executive Director of the Ghana Dock Labour Company. Prior to joining the Grameen family on the MOTECH Project, she spent 4 months with the Ghana Sustainable Change Project (USAID-Academy for Educational Development)as an Administrative Assistant. Now the Office Manager in the Ghana office, Rita says "I enjoy every bit of my work and have also learnt on the job”. In addition to her work with Grameen Foundation, Rita is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management. Rita is a very cheerful person and likes to visit interesting places in the city in her spare time.
Victor Gamado - Customer Support Center Training Officer, MOTECH Ghana
Victor has a personal passion for rural outreach for community development. His earlier engagements sent him across West Africa where he trained the postal staffs of Ghana, Nigeria and Liberia on web based remittance platforms. He has an appreciable understanding of domestic and regional remittance across West Africa though he read Sociology at the University of Ghana, Legon. He is further equipped with modern customer service procedures and damage control mechanisms leading to the maintenance of cooperate trust and loyalty. Victor likes reading and public speaking. “I am excited joining the Grameen team because we are into social action and positive intervention mechanisms leading to the social development of the poor”. He is certain Grameen will go far.
