Feb. 16, AppLab wins 2010 GSMA Global Mobile Award for "Best Use of Mobile for Social & Economic Development." 
 
 
The award was given to Grameen FoundationMTN Uganda and Google for the work of AppLab Uganda. The GSMA 2010 Awards judging panel remarked “AppLab has generated a very rich and interesting set of applications. Addressing the social issues of adoption using local experts is an excellent idea.”
 
Feb. 8, Job Openings for Community Knowledge Worker Project Manager position.  
 
Nov. 12, AppLab wins 2009 AfricaCom Award for Best Solution for Rural Services! This award recognizes an initiative taken by an operator or a telecommunications solutions vendor, which significantly improved access to telecommunications in a rural areas. The award was recieved together with MTN Uganda and Google.
 
Oct. 15, Grameen Foundation announced today a $4.7 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support the Community Knowledge Worker project in Uganda.  Read the full press release here.  To learn more about the CKW project click here.

October 4, Eric Cantor, AppLab Uganda Manager, will participate in SANGONeT, Oct. 15 in Johannesburg.  During this 5th Annual ICTs for Civil Society conference, Eric will be participating in a session entitled "Innovating on and offline."
